Rancho Washikemba is a horse ranch located on the rugged east side of the island. The owners Bregje and Marc are the only ones on the island that have all the permits for the rides, classes and other activities with horses that they carry out.
They organize group classes or private classes and even the little ones can go to them to get started in the sport of horse riding: pony steps.
Marc and Bregje can put together a special package for holidays on Bonaire, in consultation with our guests. For example, one private lesson, three group lessons and one hike at a reduced price.
The two hikes organized by Rancho Washikemba are really great!
The Kunuku-tour is a scenic drive through the dirt roads of the interior of Bonaire. You will pass through magnificent viewpoints and on this tour the horses will also be able to trot and gallop!
The Lagoen tour is very special, because during this tour the horses walk along the rugged east coast to the beautiful bay of Lagoen, where you can swim and play with the horses in the blue sea. Don’t forget your swimsuit!
The ranch is located in a fairly remote area, so you really need a car to get there from your apartment or villa.
You can travel to Bonaire with European and North American airlines. For your holidays to Bonaire from the Netherlands, you can fly with ArkeFly and KLM. The rest of Europe can fly first to Amsterdam and from there, through these two companies on one of seven weekly flights, to Bonaire.
From North America, Delta and United offer direct flights from Atlanta, Houston and Newark.
There are many houses and apartments on Bonaire for short or long term rental. Travelers can also book a condo at one of the (diving) resorts. There is even an all-inclusive resort (Plaza).
Accommodation can be booked with various agencies on Bonaire, as well as through numerous tour operators.
Rental rates vary depending on the location, near the sea, in the city or on the hill, features such as a swimming pool and the size of the apartment, townhouse or villa.
In short, I would really recommend people who come to Bonaire who don’t want to dive for a day, or vacationers who come to Bonaire for its natural beauty above sea level, to discover the rugged east side of this beautiful island on a horseback.
