For me, choosing the title of my first book was a much more difficult exercise than choosing a domain name for my website back in 1997. As a writer I’ve learned to trust my gut more than anything else, the name ‘italk4u .com’ instantly came to mind. It was available and registered within 24 hours. Since then, others have gone the same way and created domains with similar titles.
The main thing is what you want that domain to do for you. If you’re registering names to flip sites, it’s very different than developing one with information along the lines of one’s experience. On the other hand, commercial sites generally follow the business name and are generally available if they are unique. Some adjustments may be required if others are similarly named.
Along with the ‘.coms’ there are also ‘.nets’ and also others that can be followed by your country ID. For example, in Australia we have ‘.com.au’ and that makes a lot more titles available than would otherwise be the case.
My area of expertise is spirituality and research on the origin of language and religion. This allowed me to highlight it on domains with other names, such as mountaintalk.net. This fits in with the fact that speaking on the Internet is a lot like speaking from a high mountain so that the rest of the world can hear you.
Choosing the names that best suit the person is not difficult if a few rules are followed. Don’t try to be clever with the name and simple titles are always more attractive. You don’t want to get off track with complicated numbers and other things that are hard to remember.
Please follow these guidelines and enjoy your time online. One can easily make friends and write emails, blogs and articles to support their work. In the end, it pays off.
