If you want to explore the best sights in New York, what better way to do it than skydiving in the city? It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or an expert skydiver, there are skydiving centers throughout New York that will be perfect for you. With the incredible panoramic views and the number of options available, New York is definitely a skydiving destination not to be missed.
The AFF program in New York
There is a new learning system known as the Accelerated Free Fall Program that is partly responsible for putting New York on the skydiving map. It can be used to allow you to jump on your own or it can also be used in combination with a tandem jump.
Basically, with the AFF program you are working your way up to jumping eight times. Once you hit eight jumps, you graduate and can jump on your own. However, for the first three jumps you do, it will be with two jump masters in a skydiving school and then you will work your way up to a single jump master for the rest of the jumps. Throughout the jumps, you will learn everything you need to know about jumping, including safety, how to gain ground and body mark, as well as how to turn once in flight. Things don’t always work out well in skydiving, so learning these skills is essential so that you can be safe while on the lord. On your final jump, you can do it alone and that way you can enjoy the full free fall on your own.
If you are looking for skydiving centers that offer the AFF program, or if you just want to enjoy a tandem jump, you should check out the following:
o Rancho Blue Sky
o Duanesburg Skydiving Club
o Long Island Skydiving Center
o Finger Lakes Skydivers
The Blue Ranch is located in Gardiner and is fairly close to the Shawangunk Mountains, allowing you to have the best possible views while jumping. It has a professional equipment store that will provide you with everything you need to participate in a successful and safe jump.
The Duanesburg Skydiving Club is located near Albany and even if it is a bit far from you, there is accommodation available and it even provides heating and air conditioning in its parking area.
The Long Island Skydiving Center is obviously located on Long Island and offers a spectacular view of the Atlantic coast as well as the Hamptons coastline.
Finally, Finger Lakes Skydivers is located on Ovid, offering absolutely incredible views over the incomparable Finger Lakes. You’ll jump from 10,000 feet into the air and see exactly why the Finger Lakes are named after them.
In general, there are skydiving centers for all tastes in New York and they also offer incredible views of the city. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity that is definitely not to be missed.
