I recently found an interesting game on the Apple App Store. It’s called REBUS – Absurd Logic Puzzle by Jutiful. For those who don’t know what a riddle is, it’s when you take pictures or words and combine them to form a word that is completely different, but can be understood from the relationship between the two words.
For example, if you take the letter “M” and put it in the word “DAY”, you get M in DAY or “Monday”.
Some of the puzzles are very simple, like this one. But others may be more obtuse. For example, an example given in the tutorial says that a hanger is an “eyelash”. I’ve never heard of a hanger called a tab before, so this was very confusing. I still don’t know where they got that from, and neither do any of my friends who I’ve asked.
I also had a lot of issues with the keyboard, where the keys weren’t responding. Because of this, I experienced much more frustration than was necessary. I wish they had let us use the iPhone keyboard or at least made it more perfect. As it is, I had to type very slowly and carefully to avoid typos.
But there is still a decent game here. The artwork is stylish and colorful. The level design is also quite nice. If you like puzzles, this is a game that you will probably enjoy. But if you get frustrated easily, you may feel like giving up.
Fortunately, the game is completely free to download and try. You will get thirteen packs of eight levels to play. When you’re done, you can buy three more packs for just 99 cents. So you get a lot for your money, as long as you don’t buy a lot of tracks.
There are also a lot of pop-up ads, which can be annoying. But you can pay to remove them for a dollar. You can also spend five dollars and unlock all levels and remove ads at the same time. So there are options if you don’t want to wait until you can solve them all.
Overall, Rebus is a decent free game that’s worth trying out. If you get stuck, you can buy hints with the coins you earn or buy with real money. Alternatively, you can cheat with my answer guide: http://www.appunwrapper.com/2015/03/26/rebus-absurd-logic-game-walkthrough-and-answers/
