The Microsoft Windows Installer service is a built-in feature in Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista. With it, developers can reduce the total cost to build and configure applications for Windows systems efficiently. Sometimes, you may get this error message “Error 1719: The Windows Installer service could not be accessed”. That is the Windows installer error. It happens because some critical files are missing or corrupted. You may get that error when you are installing or uninstalling your application software.
How to fix Windows installer error | Method 1
To fix the error, you can choose to use those registry error fixers. I will recommend an excellent bug fixer at the end of this article. If you want to fix the error manually, follow the steps below.
- To manually fix the error, you must first re-register Msiexec.exe.
- Open the Registry Editor by clicking Start Run… and type regedit. The Registry Editor will open.
- Navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesMSIServer”
- Double-click the ‘Imagepath’ key. Verify that the Value Data is “Drive:WindowsSystem32Msiexec.exe /V”. If the field has any other value, correct it and click ‘OK’ to apply the changes.
- Exit the ‘Edit String’ box and then close the Registry Editor window
- Restart your PC in safe mode by pressing F8 at system startup
- “Start > Run…”, type “C:WindowsSyswow64Msiexec /regserver” and press “OK”. Then restart your computer normally.
By completing these steps, the Windows Installer error should be resolved. If you are not familiar with editing the registry, I suggest using a registry troubleshooter to resolve the issue for you. A proper error fixer can fix the installer error with just a few clicks. And you can also scan your computer for other errors and resolve them in one go. Your computer will have fewer error messages, blue screens, and crashes.
