Mutual bets, as you probably know, means that you are betting against the crowd. You win when your judgment is better than theirs. But who are you really betting against? Have you ever thought about that?
Most of the people who go to the dog field are just ordinary people like you and me. They can come after work or take time to do housework to hit the track. They may be retired and play dogs for something to do or because they meet their friends there.
I guess most people who bet on dogs do so for social reasons, not for a living. Most bet numbers, hunches, or simply because they like the look of a dog. Most of them do not hamper the program like professional handicappers do. Almost none of them use a system, and there is the biggest difference between the professional and the amateur.
Professional dog players always have a system: a form of dog handicapping that is logical and successful. If it wasn’t successful, they wouldn’t use it for long. Some of them invent their own system over many years of disability.
Others buy systems and then refine them over the years until they work even better. Tweaking the systems is the best way to earn steady money at the dog track. Of course, before you can modify a system to improve it, you must first find a good one.
