Greyhound betting strategies take years to perfect and my investment of time has paid off to develop my profitable systems.
I believe betting on greyhounds has several advantages over betting on horses.
First, there are only six runners in a greyhound race. Horse racing usually has more than ten runners, so if we follow a system where we analyze form, there is much more to do and it takes more time.
In the UK, races start mid-morning and run all day and into the night. This gives us plenty of betting opportunities every day and plenty of races to test our systems.
Some of the key factors I consider when developing a greyhound betting system are:
greyhound shape Free statistics are available on the Internet and allow us to review excellent information. For example, average track times of the last 5 races. If we do this for all the runners in a race, we can get a simple but very accurate view of which one is the fastest.
Breed grade. As with horse breeds, greyhound breeds have grades. If a dog goes up or down a slope, this gives us some important clues. For example, if they drop a grade it is because they had problems in their previous grade. It also gives us warning signs. The dog may seem the strongest after having won a number of races, but now that he has moved up the grades, he will face stronger contenders and face tougher competition.
The trap. This for me personally is the best indicator. The two systems I use most often, Greyhound Lay Pro and Betfair Golden Traps, rely on breed trap as the main indicator. It is a fact that there are patterns of winning and losing cheats and you can easily identify them and turn them to your advantage. This is also the case in horse racing and is key on small racing fields and for short sprints.
By combining the factors of form, breed grade and trap, it is possible to develop a very profitable greyhound betting system. Once you have this, there are other key principles to follow:
A professional approach. It is a fact that 98% of players lose money in the medium and long term. They may be using a system that will make a profit, but if they change the filters and rules or chase losses, it can become a losing system.
A betting bank. Of course, you should never gamble with money that you cannot afford to lose. But even more basic is the need to set aside a specific fund for betting. I see this as an investment fund and only that approach can change your mindset.
Discipline! This is similar to my first point. You must have the discipline to stick to a defined system and not adapt it before a good trial period. I allow any new system to have at least six or seven months of testing before reviewing how to improve it. If we constantly alter our addresses we will not make any progress.
Greyhound racing betting strategies have been very profitable for me and I suggest anyone explore further to see if they are right for you.
