Above are the words of Yashua Messiah (the Lord Jesus Christ) from Matthew 5:17 in the King James Version. Version of the Holy Scriptures, and recently I have been dealing with a satanic Judaizer who repeatedly used this verse of the Gospel of Matthew and the one that follows it, that is, Matthew 5:18 to prove and demonstrate that the Law and the Commandments are still binding for the sons and daughters of God born of God.
Matthew 5: 17-18 (KJV) Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish, but to compliance. 18 For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iot or a tittle will pass from the law, until all is compliment.
To be honest, I have always found these Holy Scriptures to be a little thorn in my flesh. The reason for this is that they can be abused and misused too easily and therefore used in a very negative sense to support the demonic misconceptions of graceless blasphemers who want to put their children back. and daughters of God under the Law of Moses – The Commandments.
We must understand that these guardians of the commandments (those of the Pharisaic conciseness of the 21st century) truly believe that there is salvation in Moses. They will deny it, of course, until they turn blue in the face, but that doesn’t change anything. That is what they believe and they only speak from lips to His Grace. They believe that salvation is in obedience to the Law – The Commandments and not living under the Glorious Saving Grace of Yashua Messiah (the Lord Jesus Christ).
So, let’s take a look at what Yashua Messiah was saying here in these verses, the opening statement first:
“Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets.”
And from the transliteral Greek MSS:
Matthew 5:17 (transliteral Greek) I should not-infer that I-came to-loosen the law or the before-averers (prophets), not I-came to-loosen-loosen, but to fill.
I will return to a crucial word here later.
And from Young’s literal translation:
Matthew 5:17 (YLT) Don’t suppose I came to tear down the law and the prophets; I did not come to tear down, but to fulfill.
I have used the YLT version here because I think the words ‘tear down’ are more accurate and descriptive than the KJV word ‘destroy’, and because Yashua Messiah is NOT a destroyer. Satan the devil is the destroyer, not Messiah Yashua. Therefore, we learn from this that Yeshua Messiah did not come to tear down the Law and the Prophets or to eliminate them or what they stood for, and why would He? He Himself was under the Law and the Prophets, were they not His messengers in Old Covenant (Testament) times and did they not uphold the Law? Didn’t Yashua Messiah himself instruct Moses about the Law and tell him what to write over a period of forty days and forty nights? Doesn’t Paul also clarify it?
Gal 3: 24-26 (KJV) Therefore The Law was our school teacher to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith (righteousness). 25 But after faith came, We are no longer under a school teacher (The Law). 26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (Brackets and emphasis mine)
The Law WAS our school teacher to lead us to Yashua Messiah. That is what the Law is for, IF you are a follower of Messiah Yashua – The Way and have Faith in Him for your salvation. If you do not have faith in Him alone for your salvation, then you must have faith in yourself and something else, that is, HIS vain attempts to keep the Law and the Commandments.
Paul also said:
Romans 7:12 (KJV) Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, just and good.
So what is Paul saying? He says that the law and commandments are perfect and holy; no fault can be found in them. However, there is a BIG PROBLEM: man CANNOT OBEY THEM and has never obeyed them. Man in the weak carnal condition is incapable of keeping the law or the commandments. So why do the graceless Judaizers think the opposite is true? Why and how do you think man can achieve the impossible? Where in the Holy Scriptures does it say that man someday (sometimes never hahaha) will get the ability to OBEY the law and commandments? There are no friends !! Nowhere in the Holy Scriptures is it said that man will one day OBEY the Law or the Commandments. Yes, he will follow Yashua Messiah willingly and willingly, but not obediently. Also, this is a question that I have asked these miserable Judaizing people a hundred times before and never received an answer. How can you give an answer? There is no other answer than simple Faith in Yashua Messiah, to which you can never humble yourself.
Okay, let’s go back to the transliteral Greek version and that crucial word and I’ll copy it again:
Matthew 5:17 (transliteral Greek) I should not-infer that I-came to-loosen the law or the before-averers (prophets), not I-came to-loosen-loosen, but to fill.
Now notice that right at the end it says ‘fill’ NOT ‘fulfill’. So what do I hear you say? Ah, but this is much more significant than we initially thought. The word ‘fulfill’ as used in the KJV does not convey the Truth correctly! Now there is a surprise !! And how many times do we find these subtle satanic changes within the pages of the KJV? Too many times is the answer to that.
Also, here’s an analogy: Imagine that the law and commandments are an empty bucket and an empty bucket that always needs to be filled in order for the demands of the law and commandments to be met.
Now, in Old Covenant times, under the Law and The Commandments, all they could do was offer and sacrifice animals to fulfill the demands of The Law and The Commandments to kill animal after animal in their attempts to fill The Bucket. of the Law, but never achieving its objectives, because the sacrifices were not substantial enough and always temporary, so they turned to ashes, flew with the wind and the bucket was never filled.
However, after John the Baptist ALL THINGS CHANGED, which Yashua Messiah confirms for us here:
Matthew 11:13 (KJV) For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Luke 16:16 (KJV) The law and the prophets were until John: since then the Kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone presses on it.
So what does this mean? It means very simply that the death (total sacrifice) and resurrection of Yashua Messiah FILLED THE BUCKET OF LAW AND COMMANDMENT !! Yashua Messiah is the water (living water) that easily fills the bucket. That is why the word ‘fulfilled’ is a very weak or even false and slightly misleading translation, because the Greek manuscript says “fill” and the KJV says “fulfill”. If we put it another way, can something that needs to be filled be fulfilled or completed? No, because ‘fill’ has a different meaning than ‘fulfill’ and the translators knew this and deliberately mistranslated it.
As a final point, I will quote Strong’s Concordance for the word ‘fulfill’ and reveal more Truth:
G4137 – comply – pleroo – play-ro’-o – From G4134; make crowded, that is, (literally) cram (a network), level up (a gap), or (figuratively) provide (or imbue, diffuse, influence), satisfy, execute (an office), terminate (a period or task), check (or match a prediction), etc .: – achieve, X after, (be) complete, finish, expire, fill (fill), fulfill, (be, make) complete (come), fully preach, perfect, supply.
If we now copy Strong’s definitions for ‘fulfilled’ from Matthew 5:18, what do you think we will find? Answer: a completely different word, would you believe it? Much joy for the author !!
G1096 – fulfilled – ginomai – ghin’-om-ahee – A long and middle form of a primary verb; cause to be (“gen” -erate), that is, (reflexively) to become (to become), used with great latitude (literally, figuratively, intensively, etc.): – to rise to be assembled, to be (to come, -fall, -have yo), be carried (pass), (be) come (pass), continue, divide, become, draw, end, fall, end, continue, be found, fulfill, + God forbid, grow, happen, have, be saved, made, married, ordered to be, participate, approved, performed, published, required, seen, displayed, X as soon as, sound, taken, converted, use , wax, will be, would be, will be forged.
Now we can see that his plot falls apart because ‘fulfill’ or ‘fulfilled’ are the correct words for the Greek word. ‘ginomai’ and yet they translated the word ‘pleroo’ as ‘comply’ when clearly it was not. We need to understand, too, that these seventeenth century KJV translators were highly educated and highly literate people in more than one language, so this was not an innocent mistake.
Also, see how the first definition above of the Greek word ‘pleroo’ does it fit nicely with my cube of law and commandment? The first definition of ‘pleroo’ it is ‘full’ which means to be ‘filled to satisfaction’ – or filled to the brim and so it is with The Law and the Cube of Commandments in terms of the sacrifice of Yeshua Messiah and His resurrection. His sacrifice filled the Cube of Law and Commandments to the brim and overflowed.
Yashua Messiah came after John had completed the era of The Law and The Prophets, so after John that was it – NO MORE LAWS, COMMANDMENTS and NO MORE PROPHETS for those who put their Faith in Yashua Messiah for EVERYTHING! There it is again friends: the simplicity that is in Christ – 2 Corinthians 11: 3
