To start winning more tennis matches, you will need to develop more consistent strokes to play them.
The player with the most consistent hit will always win the match, if he can control his nerves.
First, some questions.
How consistent are your tennis shots in matches?
How about in practice?
Start asking yourself these questions every day.
If you are having trouble in matches, watch how you practice, you should use repetition in practice, to develop a consistent mental game for your matches.
Your confidence will improve as you start practicing the right way.
Today one of my junior tennis players hit a ball into the net during our lesson and I asked him afterwards, why did you miss that shot?
And he replied, “I didn’t think I could do it!”
So I told him, “Try to believe next time.”
Then I gave him another ball and he made the shot.
This got me thinking about how many other players do the same thing when trying to make a shot, how about you?
How much do you believe in your shots, when you’re preparing to hit them?
The mental test for you is if you can hit the same shot UNDER PRESSURE, because most tennis players can’t.
So we’re going to make you hit with more confidence, like everything else in this game, it’s all mental.
It all comes down to your way of thinking.
The first thing to remember is to keep your head still and focus on the punch until you finish it. If you’ve seen Federer hit a shot, you could put a glass of water on his head while he does it, that steady. his head is in contact.
Next, focus on making contact with the ball in your optimal hitting zone.
In practice, focus on discovering your striking zone, this is a point of contact that gives you an even, consistent strike.
We all have different ideal hitting zones, so try a few in practice and see what happens.
The last thing is to prepare early and with confidence.
Use repetition to develop the muscle memory needed to hit a smooth, consistent stroke.
One more note, always visualize the shot before you hit it, see it go deep and on the court, with lots of topspin, use these 3 tips to start playing at a higher level in competition.
You will also start winning more matches!
