How do you feel about cold calling just to get sales? Does it make you as sick as it makes me? I absolutely hate cold calling, but it’s something that seems to work for some people. For some people, they are good on the phone and have the skills to close a sale.
I used to work at this telemarketing company trying to collect payments from people who were way behind on their credit card payments. Needless to say, it was like getting blood from a stone. But even though I had a hard time, there were some people who brought the dollars like clockwork.
As a result of my not being able to perform, I was fired. They did not give me a 30 day notice at all. One night they asked me to hang up the phone so they could talk to me. They showed me where my performance levels were, how I ranked compared to other people, and then told me I was fired. I didn’t even get to finish the night off. I collected my things and left.
Now most likely a situation like this has never happened to you before but this is a lesson to be learned. Cold calling sucks, and if you’re not good on the phone, this technique probably won’t work for you. So if you have cold calling prospects in your marketing plan, consider how many calls you’ll have to make just to get 1 person to say yes.
You better do direct mail where you can send mail to thousands of people and sit back and enjoy the profits. Also, this strategy will help you get more new sales on autopilot. Once you get the customers, all you have to do is implement backend selling in the process.
Backend selling simply means that you are selling more and more of your products to your existing customers. Even if you are doing well on the front end of things, the backend marketing technique is where 80% of your total business profits will come in. You see, with inside selling, you don’t have to pay to sell to these people. You already have them and you can trade them as much as you want.
Some will buy your back-end product right away, and others will wait until they’ve tried your initial product first to see if it’s worth their time.
This is fine, because most of the time they will find your initial product to be good, and most will buy your final product eventually from your business.
Now that you know about cold calling, direct mail, and backend marketing, it’s time to put these 3 elements to work for your business. Experiment to see which one works best for you and stick with it until it stops bringing you any more sales and profits. This is what I would do, and it is something you should consider doing too.
Good luck using these tips to have the kind of business success you dream of.
