When I ask new customers what they would like best in their lives, almost everyone puts “more fun” at the top of the list! I think that’s true for all of us. So why aren’t we having more fun? See if any of these reasons sound familiar to you:
1. We take ourselves too seriously.
2. There are other “more important” things to do.
3. We think it will cost a lot.
4. We are too tired.
5. We don’t have time. (WE DO NOT HAVE TIME?)
6. We will look stupid.
7. It is very difficult to plan.
The reality is that these are just excuses. We all know that once we really have fun, none of these carry any weight. Also, when you are having fun, you are more aligned with your inner guidance and are operating from that solution-oriented part of your brain. It is the difference between “being” and “doing”. So don’t be surprised if as you play and have fun, the solutions to some of your challenges are revealed to you! Pretty cool, huh?
Before deciding that you want to bring more fun into your life, you must first find out what fun is like for you. I can tell you that it is not the same for everyone. Take Disney for example, for me, the more twists and turns and twists and turns a trip had, the more fun it was. I know for some that’s the opposite of fun!
So before you start bringing more fun into your life, answer these questions for yourself:
1. What is YOUR definition of fun?
2. When was the last time you had fun?
3. How do you know when you are having fun?
4. How do you FEEL when you have fun?
5. Who are you having fun with?
Once you’re clear on what’s fun for you, start making plans to include some in your life.
So are you ready? Below, I’ve put together a list of 10 easy, low-cost or no-cost ideas to have fun before the summer is over.
Hope you enjoy … and HAVE FUN!
Top 10 ways to have fun this month
1. Go to a theme park ~ While lining up at Disney for the Aerosmith Rock-n-Roller roller coaster, in the 95 degree heat, for an hour, I thought, “I must be crazy to do this!” I looked around at the hundreds of people who were in line with me, I remembered the fun I had on this roller coaster the last time I was at Disney, and I thought again “No, this is totally worth it!” If you are a thrill seeker, a theme park is the way to go for a lot of fun. There are attractions for everyone and some even have water parks to cool off on these humid summer days.
2. Go to the beach ~ Weather that you go with children or not, play as if you were one. Bring a bucket and shovel, build a sand castle and knock it down. Have fun in the water, ride the waves, go boogie, write love notes in the sand.
3. Have a neighborhood cookout ~ Have everyone bring a plate and some water balloons or squirt guns. Play water balloon volleyball (use blankets to catch the balloon) or hide and seek with water guns.
4. Create a family treasure hunt on your bikes ~ Divide into teams and explore your neighborhood. Make the final destination your local ice cream parlor.
5. Play prostitute ~ Need I say more?
6. Go to a museum ~ Check out your local library, you may be able to get free tickets!
7. Run through your garden sprinkler.
8. Go to a drive-in ~ Believe it or not, there are still a few drive-ins around. Googling your area and I bet you’ll find one.
9. Take your kids to the park and PLAY WITH THEM ~ don’t just sit on the bench and watch. Go down the slide, be a monkey on the bars, swing on the swings, play hide and seek.
10. Create intimacy with your partner ~ role play, I dare you!
