The Expendables, with Sylvester Stallone, is a joint action film featuring a group of action movie stars from the 1980s and 1990s. These include Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis appear in The Expendables in cameos. Recent action stars Jason Statham, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Randy Couture also appear.
The iconic cast, clichéd story, random murder of a henchman, and violent action scene are designed to make The Expendables an homage to the action movies of the 1980s and early 1990s. The Expendables had a budget of $ 82 million and, after its release, it reached the number in the United States, United Kingdom and China and had the opening weekend of any movie in 2010.
The Expendables are a team of mercenaries played by Sylvester Stallone as Barney Ross, Jason Statham as Lee Christmas, Jet Li as Yin Yang, Dolph Lundgren as Gunner Jensen, Terry Crews as Hale Caesar, and Randy Couture as Toll Road. Micky Rourke plays the former Expendable Now Tool team coordinator. The film opens with The Expendables rescuing hostages from Somali pirates. Upon their return to the United States, they are hired for a dangerous mission by the suspect ‘Mr. Church ‘, played by Bruce Willis. Rival mercenary Trench, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, also meets with Church and Ross to discuss the mission, but rejects it.
Your mission is to take down a former CIA agent, played by Eric Roberts, who has taken control of the fictional island of Vilena to manufacture drugs, paying the island’s dictator and his army to control the city. However, the dictator’s daughter, Sandra, is angry about what is happening to her island and helps The Expendables on their mission.
After an initial recon that shows that the mission is too dangerous, Ross and The Expendables decide to return to try to save Sandra and the inhabitants of the island.
