Getting people to join your membership website is only half the battle. Getting them to stay is the other half. The best way to do this is to offer them exceptional value once they join.
Some of the value you explained to them on your sales page where you mentioned the benefits, but some should be left as a surprise for after they’ve joined. Remember, the key to member retention is meeting less and more.
Offer a knowledge base
A searchable knowledge base is a great way to provide value to your members. You can add it over time as questions are asked via email and in forums and group message boards. Being able to have the answers at your fingertips will keep them coming back.
Submit free educational videos
Within the knowledge base, it will be helpful if some of the more complex information is provided in video form. When you show people how to do something this way, they will want to come back and therefore keep their memberships active.
Host a member-only directory
People like to do business with other members, so if you can provide a member-only directory listing people’s websites, specialties, and offerings, they will enjoy that benefit immensely.
Have exclusive offers for members
When you have a membership, offering them a new product first, at a great discount, is another great member-only offer that you can do on a regular basis. Not only that, it’s a great way to test your new products.
Monthly group calls
It is not difficult to use software to make a live video call once a month or even more if you want. It’s amazing how something as simple as spending an hour on a call once a month will help with member retention.
Host members-only events
Another great way to provide value to your members is to have member-only events, such as in-person events, meetings, and webinars. You can also use them to allow each member to invite a new person to help expand the membership.
Offer opportunities to members
People love working together with like-minded people. Give them new ways to come together to make new offers, do new things, work together in ways they may not have thought of.
You can be sure that your members will be happy with their membership if you give them a little more than they thought they would get. Fortunately, you will be able to interact and ask questions of your members through the message boards or other groups that you form. Then it will be easy to give them more than they thought they were getting.
