Southern Utah is a really fun place to travel. Some of the most interesting rock formations and ancient indigenous peoples are found in the southeastern part of the state. Whenever you travel to southeastern Utah, there are some pretty cool places you might want to visit.
1. Rainbow Bridge
Rainbow Bridge is a magnificent rock structure and is called the largest natural bridge known to mankind. It is truly a site to see and receives close to half a million tourists every year. This beautiful bridge site looms over Lake Powell and is a great photo opportunity.
2. Natural Bridges National Monument
There are other interesting rock bridges in the state that are a bit smaller but just as amazing to look at. The Natural Bridges is one of the most interesting places to see the natural landscape. The park has many
easy walking trails and 3 huge bridges.
There is even a trail that leads to a lookout point where you can see an ancient Anazasi Indian village. Very interesting for a history lover like me.
3. Hovenweep National Monument
Speaking of ancient Indian towns, Hovenweep National Monument is simply a spectacular place that allows you to get up and close to these ancient stone houses. Although there is a chain around the houses and you are not allowed to touch them, you can get very close.
The 6 villages in this monument were built in 1100 AD. C. and they are a little worn due to mother nature, but it is still amazing to look at them and realize that these houses are not so different from the ones we live in today. .
